Wedding Ceremony Audio Checklist
If guests cannot hear the vows, the most meaningful part of the day becomes frustrating. Use this checklist before the ceremony begins.
Identify every sound source
List the officiant, couple, readers, musicians and anyone else who needs to be heard. Decide whether the ceremony includes live music, recorded music or both.
A wireless microphone on the officiant can often capture the couple’s vows while keeping the ceremony visually clean. Readers or vocalists may need an additional microphone and stand.
Confirm every music cue
Write down the exact song version for seating, processional groups, the entrance, ceremony moments and recessional. Include the point where each song should begin and how the cue will be given.
Names and group order matter. Your DJ should review pronunciation and understand what to do if a processional takes longer or shorter than expected.
Plan the physical setup
Confirm power, shelter, speaker locations and the distance between the ceremony and reception. For remote outdoor locations, battery capable professional sound may be the right solution.
A separate ceremony system protects the timeline and allows reception equipment to be ready before guests arrive.
Test with the people who will use it
A sound check should include the actual microphone positions and any live performers. Volume that seems adequate beside the speaker may not reach the last row clearly.
